Centre Defence Enterprise announces first contract

Prototype unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV)

It only opened for business at the end of May, but the Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE) has lived up to its promise of speedy decisions by announcing its first contract at the end of July having received the proposal in June.

The six month contract, worth over £120k, was awarded to small Reading-based enterprise VTOL Technologies who are working alongside academics from Southampton University to develop a 'thrust-vectoring Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV)' which is particularly suitable for urban and marine operations.

Managing Director VTOL Technologies, Ashley Bryant, is delighted with the six month contract: "VTOL Technologies have been working on this prototype for some time now and this recognition is an important step in the project's development."
