About Codex

Codex is the Latin word for the first Roman books that replaced scrolls and were collections of the key learning of the day. Codec is a shortened version of compression/decompression, the algorithms used to efficiently store and transmit large quantities of digital information.

Opinions expressed in Codex do not necessarily represent those of the MOD. Articles on all aspects of MOD and defence science and technology will be considered for publication but we reserve the right to edit contributions. MOD staff contributing to Codex should ensure their writing is suitable for open publication.

Distribution

Current policy is that Codex will be distributed at all main MOD sites and free of charge to UK and BFPO addresses, subject to availability.
