TSR – A Demand Allocation Algorithm for Datalinks

This paper describes Time Slot Reallocation (TSR), a demand access protocol designed to support the Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS)/Link-16 datalink system. TSR will be implemented in a number of UK military platforms. It has been designed to be robust against poor connectivity and jamming threats, and results in an optimised allocation of capacity, even when the system is in overloaded conditions. The underlying concepts are applicable to other Demand Access Multiple Access applications.
