New Sharpshooter rifle targets Taliban
The first new infantry combat rifle to be issued in 20 years, the L129A1 Sharpshooter provides increased accuracy and improved long-range firepower. Part of a £1.5 million Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR) for 400 rifles, the first batch will leave for Afghanistan later this year adding to the range of weapons used by troops on the front line.
The L129A1 Sharpshooter rifle fires a 7.62mm round with enhanced accuracy of engagement and will be used by some of the best shots in the infantry.
