Ideas and proposals

The Centre for Defence Enterprise (CED) is open to any idea that can contribute to UK defence - on any subject and at any time.

Submitting a proposal is clear and straightforward.

A recommended, but optional, first step is to approach us informally with a completed quad chart. (A quad chart is a one page overview of your innovation, see Quad Charts for further help.) This is your opportunity to get some quick feedback and help with your proposal. Please CDEcontact us to discuss further.

Online portal

Proposals are submitted through our online portal. Using the portal to develop and submit proposals is explained on Proposal Guidelines which includes:

Tracking your proposal

The online portal also allows you to track the progress and status of your proposal, this is explained further on Tracking a Proposal.

Special topics

Periodically we also call for proposals on special topics. These will use the same submission process but are different in three ways:

  1. they address a specific problem or need;
  2. they have ring-fenced funding;
  3. there is a cut-off date after which the proposals are assessed.

For further information see Call for Proposals.
