Q. Can I get practical help from MOD to submit my idea?
A. You will appreciate that CDE may receive high numbers of enquiries and submission, however we do recommend that you have an informal discussion with a representative from the CDE prior to submitting your proposal. We would recommend all Proposers to look at the Preparation and Guidance pages provided on the website as they contain a step by step guide through all practicalities. If you still have difficulties please refer to the statement in the Help page regarding clarification.
Q. Can we submit using Microsoft XP or the most recent Microsoft packages?
A. Yes. It should be PC format and compatible with Microsoft Office 2000.
Q. Can we only submit our proposal electronically?
A. It has been designed this way so you can get as rapid response as possible. We strongly recommend an electronic submission as any other form of proposal will take a significantly longer to assess and respond to.
Q. Can I submit with only partial parts of the Technical Proposal Template completed?
A. Yes. All sections will be assessed individually in line with the assessment criteria. However your proposal will be in a competition against other proposals which may be complete and offer a similar solution. Therefore we advise on completing as many sections as possible to maximise the possibility of success.
Q. Is there a deadline for submissions?
A. There is no deadline as such, however there will be a cut off point during the month for submissions, if you do not submit in time for that month, you will be able to submit next month, prior to that months cut off date.
Q. Will I get help filling out a Quad Chart?
A. Information on quad Charts is available on the internet.
Q. Are the MOD staff who will be assessing my idea qualified to do so?
A. Yes. All proposals will be allocated and assessed by panels built up directly from experts from the Defence Scientific Advisory Council (DSAC) , the Defence Science & Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and other MOD science and engineering experts. The assessors will be experts in the area of the proposal they are evaluating.
Q. Can I appeal against the decision process?
A. Although there is no formal appeal process, if you receive a negative response, we will provide feedback explaining the reason for the decision.
