Any conversations you have with us will be treated in the strictest confidence. Your proposal will only be seen by MOD staff and will not be discussed with third parties outside of the organisation. We will assess your proposal using the Performance Assessment Framework used by MOD to assess both proposals and actual research projects.
Our assessors will be drawn from across MOD, including the Defence Science and Technology Laboratories (Dstl) and from the Defence Scientific Advisory Council (DSAC). All DSAC independent members on the Register are senior individuals recruited from academia and industry.
All are specialists in a branch of science, engineering, technology or medicine of relevance to the MOD. Their primary role is to provide independent, objective, timely advice, based on their own experience.
All individuals are appointed in a personal capacity, not as a representative of their employer or any other organisation. All independent members of DSAC are security vetted.
On appointment, all independent members sign a set of Terms & Conditions. This includes a statement that they may not disclose information received through membership of a DSAC body (e.g. Council, Board, Working Party, Register etc), to anyone who is not either a MOD employee, or another DSAC member, without prior agreement of the body concerned and the DSAC Secretary. The DSAC Secretary will seek advice from the relevant authority. Independent members are appointed for a three-year term, with the possibility of reappointment, and 2nd re-appointment, for a total period not to exceed ten years. DSAC Terms of reference are:-
