Cross Cutting

Aircraft load management must take account of human factors

Cross-cutting technologies have multiple applications delivering military advantage in many different situations.

Cross-cutting technologies are:

  • Sensors and countermeasures (eg, radar, electro-optic technologies and signal and data processing).
  • Information exploitation (eg, secure and robust communications and information management).
  • The human as part of the system (eg, human performance and behaviour, health, medical, interface technologies).
  • Platforms and structures (eg, advanced materials and power source and supply technologies, engines, propulsion).
  • The physical environment (eg, observation and environmental modelling, weather, climate, hydrograhpics).
  • Technologies to enable Through Life Capability Management (TLCM), the effective and efficient support, maintenance and update of equipment over the time, often decades, that it is in use by the UK Armed Forces.
