HMS Triumph in sea trials following six-year refit

The nuclear-powered submarine recently set sail following a major refit costing nearly £300m. Capability improvements include the installation of the latest sonar systems and an upgrade for the Tomahawk land attack cruise missile system. A new command and control system has also been installed, as well as a new internal fibre optic computer systems network and enhanced satellite communications system.

Terrier super digger paves the way

Construction has began on the first of a new fleet of 60 tracked, armoured, earthmoving vehicles, which will give the Royal Engineers a powerful and versatile route clearing capability.
The Terrier will be able to negotiate most terrain and its earthmoving bucket and side-mounted excavator arm will make short work of digging and obstacle clearance tasks.

Skies the limit for new military satellite

The Skynet 5D will enhance military operations giving the Armed Forces the services of a fourth satellite provided by the Paradign’s Skynet constellation.
Roughly three times the length of a double decker bus, it will be launched in 2013 and play a key role in gathering intelligence on operations. The satellite will also be used to provide the telephone and internet welfare support facilities for Service personnel on operations.

Exploding hose blasts through Taliban IED field

The Python rocket is a trailer-mounted, rocket-propelled mine-clearing system pulled behind the Trojan armoured engineer tank. The exploding hose punches a safe passage through suspected Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) belts as it fires a snake of high explosives.
Fitted with a large plough on the front, the Trojan vehicle can clear safe passage through a suspected IED belt, it has recently been used for the first on operations in Afghanistan.
