The Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE) is the first point of contact for anyone with a disruptive technology, new process or innovation that has a potential defence application. CDE is a gateway between the outside world and the Ministry of Defence (MOD), bringing together innovation and investment for the defence market, ensuring that our front-line forces have the best battle-winning technologies for the future.
CDE is open to all organisations - large or small - whether new to the defence market or an established defence supplier. Innovators, entrepreneurs, universities, Small and Medium Enterprises and large companies can discuss ideas and find funding with the aim of improving the UK's military capability.
CDE is aligned with the Government’s Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) managed by the Technology Strategy Board.
You can submit a CDE research contract proposal online - we have designed this process to be quick and easy. You are also welcome to come and talk to us at the CDE before submitting a proposal. There is a team permanently based at the CDE in Harwell and they are available to talk to you about your innovation. Once your proposal application is submitted you can track its progress online. Proposals can be assessed in as little as 15 days.
