The land equipment area provides technologies for individual infantry soldiers
through to armoured fighting vehicles such as tanks. Technologies will provide support to a variety of combat and non-combat roles for the Army, Royal Marines and RAF Regiment. These will include protection of people and vehicles, countering the threat of explosive devices and the developing potential of autonomous vehicles and systems.
The required capability will not be fulfilled by the provision of innovative equipment alone, but by a right mix of equipment, effective use of Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and a balanced response in all systems.
MOD's research investment aids all these areas, including reducing the costs of owning and operating equipment in later years through improved design for easier upgrade with new technology.
